Team Canada track & paralympic athlete David Johnson aka Blindhipsterdave got back on the ice today and chatted with us about his #BlindHockey history: “I started playing hockey when I was a kid at around 8 years old and I loved playing hockey I played all the time and my vision deteriorated and got worse. I started to play Blind Hockey around 2014 when I was 14 years old. I went to the first ever Canadian Blind Hockey camp in Burnaby, BC.

It was so much fun, great sense of community and family. We all came together from across Canada to play hockey! It was probably the most fun I ever had in my early teenage years. I went to camp the following year and then I played at the National Tournament in Toronto.

I’m pretty busy with track and field right now but I’d love to come back out and play.

Coming back to it, this was my first game in over 5 years. it’s been a lot of fun. I forgot how much work hockey is but it’s fun, I had a blast.”
