Canadian Blind Hockey is celebrating a fantastic couple of weeks of Blind Hockey camps for children, youth and adults from coast-to-coast and around the world.

CNIB Lake Joe and Canadian Blind Hockey, teamed up to host Camp Abilities Blind Hockey program from July 1-5, 2024. A dozen youth aged 8-18 who are blind or partially sighted gathered at the camp to learn and play the sport of Blind Hockey, focusing on skill development and cultivating a love for the game. We were thrilled to have Matt and Luca team up to coach the on-ice portion of the camp along with Blind Hockey players including Graham Foxcroft, Joe Fornasier and Mark DeMontis, who recently arrived back from the 2024 NHL Awards celebrating the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award. Read more about the experience here.

More than 40 Blind Hockey players from across Canada, the USA and Finland joined us in Mississauga for the 8th annual Canadian Blind Hockey Summer Development and High Performance Camp!

We want to extend a huge stick tap to all of the participants, their families, the players and coaches for taking time to be part of this year’s training camp. The players worked hard, thanks to our amazing coaches and special guest, hockey trainer Sonya Shewchuk!

The players worked hard on a variety of drills including goalie training, skills courses, small area games, scrimmages, edge work and of course, the showcase games on Saturday! You can rewatch the games on our Youtube page.

Special Event: The Mitch Marner All-Star Invitational

The Marner Assist Foundation continues to create positive change for children and youth and they continue to go above and beyond to support Blind Hockey! This year, select National team members were able to experience Marner’s kick off tailgate party downtown Toronto where host Jeff Kelly educated the entire crowd of NHL attendees and VIPs about Canadian Blind Hockey.

It was a great night as we socialized and educated NHL players about Blind Hockey such as Toronto Maple Leafs stars Mitch Marner, Max Domi, John Tavares, and Joseph Woll!

On Friday July 12, four Junior Ice Owls Sam, Nav, Owen and Aiden, were invited by Mitch to take part in the skills competitions during the 2024 Mitch Marner All-Star Invitational, followed by members from our National Blind Hockey team playing in a showcase game creating incredible awareness among the NHLers and other celebrities and VIPs.

On behalf of Canadian Blind Hockey a huge thank you to Mitch Marner, his family and  the entire MAF team.

Thank you to our partners

Canadian Blind Hockey’s programs and events would not be possible without the support from our incredible partners and partners. Huge thank you to our national program partner the CNIB Foundation!
