Counting down to 10 years of the Canadian National Blind Hockey Tournament with Brian Mackie who has attended all 10!

“I’ve been playing Blind Hockey for 30 years. In 1993 I started playing regularly with the Toronto Ice Owls until 2000 when I moved out west and started playing with the Vancouver Eclipse. As a kid I didn’t have opportunities to play Blind Hockey, so I played with sighted kids, and I played a lot of hockey with my dad. The Blind Hockey community is amazing!

My hope for the next 10 years would be to keep playing Blind Hockey. That is why I still participate during the Canadian Blind Hockey Summer Development Camps – I still have more to learn and it gets me in shape for the season. I’m heading into year 10 after finally winning my first gold medal at last year’s tournament so it feels amazing to celebrate 10 years of the Tournament. I love the comradery of the National Tournament, playing & socializing.”
